Chicago neighborhood schools (elementary and high school) will hold elections for Local School Councils on April 18 and April 19. Elementary school elections are on April 18. High school elections are April 19. A number of our Network 49 members are running for parent or community resident positions at their respective local schools. We want everyone to get out and vote!!!
Each school hosts its own polling place; polls are open from 6 AM – 7 PM. Below is information from the LSC election guide about who can vote. Note that each community resident is able to vote for each of up to five (5) candidates for the positions of parent and community representative. (If you vote for 2 community reps, you can vote for 3 parent reps. If you vote for 5 parent reps, you can’t vote for community resident reps. It’s 5 votes total).
You should vote at the school(s) that serves the attendance area where you live. To see your attendance boundaries, visit the CPS LSC Elections Map website and enter your address.
You must present valid id and proof of residency in the attendance area. See the voter guide, page 16, for forms of valid ID and proof of residency.
